Abstract

Abstract

In the sermon of the mountainl the Lord Jesus taught His followers about the characteristics of life that must be possessed. His teaching begins with the word “blessed" (Makarios-Greek) which means: God is pleased and blessed. That is called true happiness. Jesus places great emphasis on a life that pleases God and it is a top priority for believers, because of that the Lord Jesus said "Blessed" repeatedly up to nine times. Everyone desires or expects to live in the world in a happiness state, that's why many Christians have the wrong thoughts in achieving a happy life, there are those who think by working hard to have material possessions, or career success, world reputation, beauty. and other things that bring happiness, but different what Jesus taught about a happy life, far different from what people think. Achieving a happy life for Christians or believers, Jesus taught that it is closely related to the nature or character of a person who has been renewed in God. The Lord Jesus associated happiness with human qualities. According to the Lord Jesus, true happiness is a gift from God to those who have the right attitude in life, namely those who are not attached to worldly possessions, because they will actually have Heavenly treasures. Those who mourn because this world has nothing will be happy by Heaven's consolation. People who are meek, never defend their own rights, they are the ones who inherit the earth. Happiness begins with repentance followed by a life that has an orientation to please God. The closer we are to God, the closer we are to Him in His attributes, namely, gentle not hard-hearted, hungry and thirsty for truth instead of defilement, generous instead of stingy or greedy. That's the happy way. The road is full of demands for a price to be paid.
